What is Value City
Value City was an American discount department store chain with more than 113 locations. It was established in 1917 by Ephraim Schottenstein, a travelling salesman from central Ohio. The store was an off-price retailer that offered clothing, jewelry and household items at prices lower than the suggested retail price suggested by the manufacturer. The store was concentrated on closing out and buyout products, as well as occasionally odd clothing and factory second items. The stores were known as Schottenstein’s in the Columbus, Ohio, market. It was announced that the Schottenstein name was dropped in the year 2008. Three stores in Metro Detroit were co-branded as Crowley’s Value City.
